Unique Learning System

Unique Learning System is a complete standards-based curriculum program designed specifically for students with special needs. The AAC Language Lab has teamed up with ULS to bring you relevant resources to help your students succeed with AAC in the classroom! These resources support descriptive teaching as the foundation, allowing students to engage with each ULS unit using vocabulary already on their AAC system. Subscribers of ULS will discover that individuals can participate in all activities using these pre-made supports, no matter your students' chosen AAC device or language system. Supports are available as a free resource on the AAC Language Lab and will be available monthly for the elementary grand band. More about descriptive teaching:

Descriptive teaching can be a valuable strategy to help students learn new content in the classroom. It’s a way to teach academic vocabulary and concepts by talking about them with core and other high frequency words.Rather than asking questions that require a single word response with vocabulary you need to program on their device, ask your AAC learners open-ended questions that enable them to talk about concepts and key words using vocabulary they already have on their AAC system. To learn more about descriptive teaching and how to support your AAC learners with this valuable teaching strategy, access the handouts and resources below.
