Building Relationships & Independence through Communication Supports
The BRICS Curriculum is a program for young adults who use augmentative communication devices and are transitioning from school to work, to help develop and refine their communication, including computer access and use for daily living/job skills. Developed in 1990 by Diane N. Bryen, PhD, this curriculum was developed by communication professionals and other qualified experienced personnel - including mentors who are SGD users themselves. Lessons were modified for use on the AAC Language Lab by a team of professionals including Candice Steel, SLP-L, ATP, Dr. Caroline Musselwhite, M.S, CCC-SLP & Jane Odom, M. Ed. This curriculum provides a variety of learning experiences as well as resources for training communication partners and other staff.
