Warning! Warning! My mom is a shopper. She bulks up things and stores them up like a squirrel storing up nuts for winter. Some may call it hoarding, but mom calls it smart shopping.
When an item is on sale, it pays to stock up. Such as the Great Sugar Heist of 2017, my mom has certain items that she will never ever run out of even in the event of nuclear war and closing of any stores. She will never run out of pencils, notebooks, toilet paper, sugar, and butter. We have enough toilet paper to supply a college university. And don’t even get me started on our sugar storehouse.
One time my mom saw that butter was on sale for $1.50 per pack of four sticks at Woods with no limits. She gathered my dad and me in the van and off we went. When we got there, there sadly wasn’t any butter on the shelves. So she sent my dad to find a person to see if there were any in the back. After awhile dad returned with a guy who went to see if there was any more precious butter. He climbed a huge ladder in the cooler and found one last remaining box, or case of the butter.
The stocker carefully came down the ladder with the box. He opened the last box, and pulled out a pack of butter and held it out toward my mom asking, “How many did you need, ma’am?”
Mom quickly replied, “All of them.”
The stocker was shocked, but loaded the case into our cart. Now they were totally out of butter, but we saved money getting the sale price and stocking up on butter.
My mom has this gift at finding good bargains and stocking up for the future.
