Trying New Things

I like sports. I have tried many sports like baseball, basketball, soccer, sled hockey, dance, running races, and horseback riding. Then my friend Matt told me about snow skiing and I gave it a shot.

I went to Park City, Utah with my family. I was excited about going. I skied with someone behind me. I was in a seat and the seat was attached to a wide ski. The guy behind me started off holding the sled. Then he used tethers. They were tied to each side of my seat. He let go of the handle and used the tethers like reins on a horse. With the tethers, he could control the sled or he could let me turn the sled. You have to lean your head and your shoulder to do it. If you lean your head and shoulders to the right, the sled would go right same if you lean left, you go left.

When I got there, I was excited about it. I was not nervous or scared about going. The people that run the program, Dale and another guy, got me loaded in the seat. I had to get on a lift to get to the top of the mountain. It was fun to be on the lift and I felt completely safe. When we got off the lift, I was smiling the whole way down. We took off down the mountain. We were flying. We went side to side. My cousin Gobie couldn't keep up because we were going so fast. We went right past him. It was freaking awesome. I did almost every run there except the really steep ones. Gobie and his wife, Kristi, videotaped it. Skiing was super fun and exhausting.

You should try something new that sounds fun. It might not end up being your favorite thing or you may really like it. I am glad I went skiing and I can't wait to go again. I loved it!
