Teamwork is really important to me because people can help me do stuff. When you work together, like when I run or play basketball, everybody helps each other and we all get active and get out there. It's also more fun working and playing with others. That way you can share memories and share stories with your teammates and friends.
One of my most recent and fun examples of teamwork is a run I did. The race was in Washington, D.C. It was the Marine Corp Marathon. We flew there and met up with all the other wheelchair athletes and their teammates. We had a team supper the night before the race. We had to get up at 4 o'clock the next morning. When I got up, I was tired because we slept really bad. We met up with my teammate Andrew at 4:30. Andrew and I made it to the race site and hung out in the team tent. It was cold and everybody was talking and getting ready for the race. There were about 15 teams. Andrew and I walked to the start line. I was excited. The race started with a cannon. As we ran, other people were cheering our teams on. I was playing music to give Andrew energy. He checked on me and would ask, "Parr you good?" After 26 miles, we crossed the finish line. That's fun teamwork.
In my life, I have people that help me out like. My caregiver Tiffany helps me get to school and back. She also helps me get my computer out and things like that. When I run races, I have two teammates, Eric and Andrew. They take turns pushing me. I also play basketball. We play as a team passing the ball and scoring. At home, my parents help me get dressed in the mornings, bathe and other things I need. Everybody needs teammates and teamwork. My teams are awesome.
