In June, I had the opportunity to go to camp for the second time. I had even more exciting adventures and made lots of new friends. The camp is called Camp WeCanDu, and it is in St. Louis, Missouri. A whole week filled with fun activities from the moment you open your eyes until you close them again every night.
One day, there was a giant, plastic, inflatable obstacle course. The outside looked like one of those fun, bouncy kid castles with bright red and yellow walls. This is going to be fun, I thought as I excitedly waited my turn. Two of my counselors were going to enter into this beast with me. Finally, it was my turn! There was a plastic climbing wall that led to the entrance. I tried to pull myself up, but everything was extremely slippery. One of my counselors went behind me, and one was in front of me. He pulled my arms, and the other one pushed my…well, you can guess what! Anyway, the three of us were inside the great stomach of the beast. The wall sloped down on the other side. We slid down where there were tall columns that we had to weave through. We did that like a piece of cake. At the end of the columns, there was a long dark tunnel that no one knew where it led.
Was there a killer clown at the bottom, just waiting for me? With that in mind, I slowly crawled through with my counselors following close behind me. Then out in the distance, I saw a brilliant light showing me the way. Just one more slide and I would be out! It was so thrilling; I even thought that I saw Jesus with some of my friends at the bottom, waiting for me and motioning to me to come towards the light. With both of my counselors, I slid down. And wow, just like that, this thrilling activity was over. It was definitely a lot harder than it looked, and I was happy to be out.
This was only one of the many awesome adventures that lay in store for me during my camping experience. So many people did so much in order for everyone to have a great time at camp. I want to thank the counselors and all the people who make this camp possible. Because of you, I rode my first hot air balloon and loved it! Because of you, I threw Jell-O shots at my friends and got covered with shaving cream. Because of you, I got to sit in a NASCAR, and I rode a bike. Because of you, I watched The Secret Life of Pets 2 and Kung Fu Panda. Because of you, I danced by a bus that shoots glow in the dark bubbles, and I shot a bow and arrow with my teeth. Because of you, I did yoga and so many more things for which I thank you!
