Transitioning From Being Bored To Having Stuff To Get Done

I am the sort of person who prefers being busy over having nothing to do. Although I love the relaxation that summer provides me with, I tend to become bored easily having little to no work to do in the summer. This summer, I was hoping to do my internship but no such luck. I have been missing being with my peers at college and feeling a bit lonely. I am very excited to go back to school in a few weeks!

A strategy that I use to prepare for school is asking my professors for the class syllabi a few weeks before the semester begins. I like to do something that keeps me occupied and give myself extra time to work on assignments, so during the semester, I have more time to relax and socialize with family and friends. Also, I try to get myself more used to typing on my AAC device because a semester of college requires me to work many hours on assignments by typing with my eyes.

I have a very exciting breaking development in my life: I finally secured an internship site for the substance abuse counseling certificate I am working towards! It has been very difficult to find an agency who will give me a chance. Anyway, because I am doing an internship for the first time and taking two additional classes in the fall semester, I have to be preparing myself to really make sure I have enough time to get everything done that I have to while intentionally taking care of myself. I am the kind of guy who does not want to stop working to take a break. However, I need to acknowledge that taking breaks is just as important or sometimes even more important than getting work done in a timely manner. This is because relaxation I get from taking breaks allows me to be in the present moment and not become too attached to my work

Honestly, I cannot imagine myself being out of school. I already have a bachelor’s degree in psychology but am still in school because I cannot do much with just a bachelor’s in psychology and love being in classes. So, I think I like being in school than having summer vacation.
