Sometimes when I get down about the things I can’t do on my own. Like having my very own car and be able to drive myself anywhere I want to go. Oh to have that independence, how I long for it. But I have come to the realization many times now that I’ll never probably have a car or even a drivers license.
So what do I do when I get down and sad? I look around and see who I can be happy for. This week I got to be happy for my youngest sister Aimee who her drivers license. Yes, it’s true she can now drive. I have rode in the car with her before and she’s a very cautious driver. She was SO excited that she passed the test the first time!! She was very nervous.
Anyways the verses I look to when I get discouraged about not having my independence is Philippians 4:11-13 which say, “Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.”
These verses help me not to look on the things I can’t do but focus on the things that I can do. I have learned to be content In whatever state I am through God’s strength and guidance. May I encourage you to be content in whatever you are going through in your life. Know that God has everything under control.
