I have always been fascinated by color.  Did you know that the human eye is able to see color because light produces different wavelengths and energies?  A simple experiment using a bright light, a prism, and a sheet of paper will demonstrate this perfectly.  If a bright light shines through the prism a rainbow of red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet is created onto the paper.  This is because each color has a different wavelength and energy.  Violet has the most energy because it has the shortest wavelength.  Red, on the other hand, has the lowest energy since it has the longest wavelength.  And because of the way our eyes are designed, we can see these colors.  Our awesome God is EXTREMELY detailed.

A few months ago, while my mom was fostering two small boys, I rediscovered the joy of coloring.  The older boy and I would color as the younger one napped.  I started really looking forward to it.  I remember when I was younger, I had lots of colored pencils and would spend a lot of time coloring.  But for some reason, I stopped.

One evening my dad and I went shopping.  I decided to buy a sketchpad and a set of Jumbo Crayons.  Then using the bunny icon on my Accent 1000 as a guide, I drew and colored my first creation.

I have a good friend that is a wonderful artist who shares his drawings on Instagram.  This sounded like a good idea.  So, my dad helped me to set up an account.  Soon I was sharing my art.  It didn't take long before I started receiving feedback.  It was nice to get feedback and chat with people who I consider to be real artists.

My art gives me the freedom to be creative.  It’s amazing how this hobby from my childhood has become a new delight to me.  Maybe some things from our childhood are good to return to.  As an adult, I have to think about things more logically.  But Matthew 18:3 says, “Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.”  Maybe age is just a number. You are never too old or too young to do something that you have always wanted to do.  Yes, the world that we once knew has changed, but it always will change whether you go with it or not.  So, go!  Go and find a new passion.
