Do you know how to swim? If so, did you learn to swim on your own or did you take swimming lessons?
I like the water. It doesn’t matter where as long as I have my floating device I’m ready to jump in.
Last year I was in a triathlon, where I swam 50 meters, but this year I want to swim farther.
My mom thought it would be good to learn how to swim without my floating device, and signed me up for swimming lessons.
Yikes!
Swimming lessons? Why do I need swimming lessons? I like swimming using my floating device. But she says it would be a good thing. So that was that. So there I was at my first swim lesson. I was very nervous.
Kelly, the swimming coordinator, greeted me with a big smile, and says, “I’m going to throw you into the pool.” “Ha! Ha! She’s joking,” I thought, until she scoops me out of my chair and begins to walk towards the pool. I began to panic and I held her neck for dear life. She said, “Are you ready to catch him?” I thought, “Um…NO…WAIT!”
And in the nick of time this young man with huge muscles held out his arms and caught me. Whew! I was so glad he was there.
My muscle bound hero was named Lorenzo. He was my swimming instructor, and he was awesome.
It didn’t take long before I was doing all kinds of things. Lying on my stomach, I used a kick-board to practice my kicking and swimming strokes.
For about forty-five minutes, I went from one end of the pool to the other. Back and forth, I swam. By the end of my first lesson, my whole body was exhausted and cold.
Lorenzo then carried me to the hot tub. This was my favorite part. It felt great to rest and warm up.
My first swimming lesson was great, and I am looking forward to the next one.
Don’t be afraid to try something new. It’s good to try new things, if you attempt something you don’t like it at least you tried it. But who knows you may find a new favorite hobby. Either way, you have nothing to lose.
I think the swimming lessons should be in the hot tub.
This is Life with Kyle and I will talk to you next week.
