Language Stages

Language Stages Overview

The foundation of the AAC Language Lab is a compilation of information on language development gathered from a vast number of resources. Language is usually developed in a fairly predictable manner. The AAC Language Lab provides guidance for selecting language activities that are a good fit with your child’s current skills and encourages progression in language development. Because the acquisition of new language skills flows gradually forward, it is not unusual to find skill development that overlaps between the levels of Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced. The levels provide a general structure, but should not be interpreted too rigidly.
